Nandagokula Dance company, initially known as Nandagokula, has been engaged in dance and theatre field with a slogan ‘Kaleyonde Kula’ which means Art is the only cast we know. The company consisting of twenty artists is led by Ms Shwetha Arehole.
Nandagokula performs dances of various dance forms including Bharathanatyam, Indian Contemporary, Yakshagana, Semi Classical and Folk. They not only perform dance, but they also actively engage themselves in Theatre plays and Dance dramas. Gokula Nirgamana is one of the most successful dance dramas of the team, and it is Directed and Choreographed by Ms Shwetha Arehole and is written by Late P T Narisamchar.
Nandagokula is currently engaged in the production as ‘Biduvane Bramhalinga’- a dance drama based on the story of Maranakatte Bramhalingeshwara, ‘Mandarthi Maadevi’ – dance drama based on the story of Mandarthi Shree Durgaparameshwri Temple, and a tulu dance dance of the goddess of Tulunaadu – Mangaladevi – ‘Mamaimedappe Mangaldevi’.
NDC is an active performing troupe that consists artists of age group seven years upto twenty-five years. Each one of them is trained by Shwetha Arehole and they perform gracefully in the shows continuously up to three hours. The most popular dance productions of the company are ‘Mahisha Mardhini’ , ‘Manjunatha Charithe’ , ‘Amar Jawan’ , ‘Krishnaarpanam’ , ‘Namo Namo Bharathambe’.
Nandagokula Dance Company carries the policy of sharing is caring. They share the Honorary amount they get for their performance with every artist of the team and help them with their educational expenditure. Remaining amount, if any is utilised for the service activity conducted by Arehole Pratishtana.
